A Roulette wheel has 37 or 38 slots on it, 36 of these are coloured red and black and alternate around the wheel. The wheel also contains a zero slot (the American wheel also has a double zero slot) coloured green.

Roulette is played by rolling a small ball in one direction inside a wheel, which spins in the opposite direction. The ball bounces around inside the wheel and finally comes to rest in a slot that contains the winning number. You win or lose depending on the wager(s) you have placed prior to the spin.

The players have no control over the selection of the winning number. The game is one of pure luck and it is imposable to predict the winning number. The game is all about how the players choose to wager.

There are many ways to wager in Roulette:

Inside Bets (those made directly inside the table layout):

One number bets
You are betting on any singe number (there are 37 or 38 numbers including 0 and 00).
This bet pays 35 to 1.

Two number bets
You are betting on any two adjacent numbers (there are 62 groups of two).
This bet pays 17 to 1.

Three number bets
You are betting on groups of three numbers (there are 15 groups of three).
This bet pays 11 to 1.

Four number bets
You are betting on a square of four numbers (there are 22 groups of four).
This bet pays 8 to 1.

Five number bets
You are betting on 00, 0, 1, 2 or 3 to win (there is only one way to make this bet).
This bet pays 6 to 1.

Six number bets
You are betting on two rows of three numbers (there are eleven ways to make this bet).
This bet pays 5 to 1.

Outside Bets (made on the area bordering the numbers layout):

Dozens
You are betting on the numbers 1 to 12, 13 to 24 or 25 to 36 (there are three ways to bet).
This bet pays 2 to 1.

Odd or Even
You are betting on the winning number (1 to 36) being even or odd, if 0 or 00 wins you lose (there are two ways to make this bet).
This bet pays 1 to 1.

Red or Black
You are betting that the winning number will be red or black, 0 and 00 are green, (there are two ways to bet).
This bet pays 1 to 1.

Column Bets
You are betting on an entire column of 12 numbers (There are three columns to bet on).
This bet pays 2 to 1.
